Nossa história
Estudamos os efeitos de substâncias psicodélicas desde 2006, com um conjunto integrado de disciplinas e ferramentas como neuroimagem, bioquímica, fisiologia, psiquiatria, psicologia, enfermagem, regulamentação e saúde pública
Realizamos o primeiro ensaio clínico randomizado controlado por placebo do mundo com uma substância psicodélica em depressão resistente ao tratamento (2018). Nosso objetivo é levar esse conhecimento para o próximo nível e avançar firmemente na oferta ampla e ética de acesso ao DMT, cetamina e psicodélicos em geral, para a saúde e bem-estar das pessoas

DRÁULIO ARAÚJO
DIRETOR
DR. DRÁULIO ARAÚJO recebeu seu bacharelado em física (1995), mestrado em física aplicada (1997), doutorado em física aplicada à medicina e biologia (2002), e pós-doutorado em radiologia (2002), quando ingressou no departamento de física (USP) como professor assistente, onde obteve sua livre-docência (2008). Desde 2009, é professor titular no Instituto do Cérebro da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), Brasil. Ele foi bolsista Fulbright no Departamento de Ciências Psicológicas e do Cérebro da Universidade da Califórnia, Santa Barbara, EUA (2017-19). Desde 2006, seu grupo estuda psicodélicos utilizando neuroimagem funcional para avaliar as bases neurais dos efeitos da ayahuasca, tendo conduzido o primeiro ensaio clínico randomizado e controlado por placebo do mundo com uma substância psicodélica para depressão major. Ele lidera ensaios clínicos para testar a segurança, tolerabilidade e efeitos da ayahuasca e do DMT isolado em populações saudáveis e clínicas. Além disso, colabora em projetos de pesquisa com LSD e cetamina.

NICOLE GALVÃO COELHO é Professora Associada no Departamento de Fisiologia e Comportamento da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN, Natal, Brasil). Ela faz parte do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicobiologia (UFRN) e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Saúde Mental da Universidade de São Paulo (USP, Ribeirão Preto, Brasil). É Professora Adjunta no Instituto NICM da Western Sydney University (Sydney, Austrália). Possui graduação em Ciências Biológicas, doutorado em Psicobiologia e realizou pós-doutorado na Western Sydney University (Sydney, Austrália), com foco em tratamentos alternativos para depressão major. A Professora Galvão-Coelho tem interesse científico em tratamentos alternativos para depressão unipolar e bipolar. Ela trabalha com intervenções de estilo de vida e com psicodélicos clássicos e não clássicos como ayahuasca, DMT e cetamina. Além da resposta antidepressiva clínica, ela analisa também a resposta biológica em estudos clínicos e pré-clínicos.

FERNANDA PALHANO-FONTES é engenheira elétrica com dupla formação: uma pela UFRN e outra pela École National Supérieure d'Electrotechnique, d'Electronique, d'Informatique, ENSEEIHT, Toulouse/França. Possui mestrado e doutorado em neurociência pelo Instituto do Cérebro (UFRN). Em seu mestrado, utilizou ressonância magnética funcional para avaliar os efeitos agudos da ayahuasca em voluntários saudáveis. Em seu doutorado, avaliou o efeito antidepressivo da ayahuasca em pacientes com depressão resistente ao tratamento. Colaborou em projetos de pesquisa com outras substâncias psicodélicas como LSD e cetamina. Desde 2017, é engenheira de pesquisa no Instituto do Cérebro, onde desenvolve pesquisas envolvendo neuroimagem, psicodélicos e transtornos mentais.

MARCELO FALCHI
DIRETOR MÉDICO
MARCELO FALCHI é professor de medicina na UFRN (Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte), cientista no Instituto do Cérebro (Natal), com foco em ciência psicodélica, e psiquiatra clínico privado. Reconhecido por suas conquistas em conferências (foi premiado duas vezes em 1º lugar no Congresso Brasileiro de Psiquiatria em 2017 e 2018), ele fez história ao administrar sessões com LSD para estudo científico e ao conduzir o primeiro ensaio clínico mundial com DMT inalado. Além disso, o Dr. Falchi se dedica à exploração de fronteiras na psicofarmacologia (com trabalhos publicados sobre cetamina, LSD, ayahuasca e DMT), recebendo atenção de importantes veículos de mídia nacional. Suas posições anteriores incluem ser preceptor de psiquiatria (no Hospital Mario Gatti, PUC e SSCF) e chefe da unidade de pesquisa em psiquiatria (em uma empresa canadense de saúde tecnológica).
ISABEL WIEßNER
DIRETORA CIENTÍFICA
ISABEL WIEßNER é Doutora em Ciências da Saúde Mental pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), onde liderou o primeiro estudo humano brasileiro duplo-cego, controlado por placebo, sobre os efeitos do LSD no pensamento, linguagem, criatividade, cognição e experiências psicóticas e terapêuticas. Durante seu mestrado em Psicologia Cognitiva e Neurociência na Universidade de Jena, na Alemanha, ela examinou os efeitos da hipnose na percepção da dor e na atividade cerebral (EEG). Em sua graduação em Psicologia na Universidade de Konstanz, também na Alemanha, ela investigou os efeitos do relaxamento profundo e do sono na memória e na atividade cerebral (MEG). Atualmente, ela trabalha como pós-doutoranda no Instituto do Cérebro da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, em Natal, onde está investigando os efeitos do DMT e da ayahuasca na percepção, imaginação, sugestionabilidade e atividade cerebral (EEG).

SERGIO RUSCHI is a chemist, he has a master's and a doctorate in Physical Chemistry and Theoretical Chemistry from UFRN. He conducted his thesis and dissertation studying allosteric effects in proteins and drug-receptor interactions through classical molecular dynamics. Currently, he works at the Brain Institute (UFRN), where he conducts research activities focused on neuropharmacology, analytical chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry, having worked with various psychoactive substances.

PSYCHOLOGIST & MASTER STUDENT
SOPHIE LABORDE Is a psychologist who graduated from UFRN and holds a master's degree in health sciences from PPGCSA. As a researcher, she investigates the therapeutic effects of DMT in patients with treatment-resistant depression and the role of subjectivity in the therapeutic effect of the substance. Currently, she is a clinical psychologist in the DUNAS project and a psychotherapist oriented through the transpersonal psychology approach. Sophie is an aerial fabric practitioner, creator of plant recipes, and passionate about activities in nature.

RAYNARA BOLCONT is a psychologist who graduated from UFRN. He received a Scientific Initiation scholarship from the Young Talents of Science program (CAPES) where he developed research focused on Evolutionary Psychology. He has experience in Experimental Psychology and Qualitative Analysis resulting from research projects. He is interested in researching on the therapeutic potential of psychedelic substances and is currently studying technological innovations in health for the treatment of severe mental disorders. Acts as a Clinical Psychologist (CRP-17/5210), as a psychotherapist, in private practice and Harm Reduction providing physical and psychological support to the experience with psychedelics.

RAPHAEL EGEL is a German musician and multimedia artist. Since 2022, he has been the creative director of the CAMP dedicated to implementing aesthetical and musical solutions to the trial with DMT being conducted at the Brain Institute at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, Natal, RN. Growing up in the Black Forest in a family of classical musicians, he was in touch with diverse forms of artistic expression from an early age. Raphael played in various bands, developing a unique improvisation style with influences from electronic, ambient, electrofunk, and pop. In 2018, he moved from Germany to Brazil where he is currently producing his music, paintings, and AI art. Instagram: @liveenlightenment.

RAISSA NOBREGA Is a biomedical scientist, specialized in Clinical Analysis and Microbiology. She holds a specialization in Infectiology and a master's degree from the Postgraduate Program in Psychobiology. During her master's studies, she conducted pioneering research on the levels of plasticity-related brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in response to psychedelics, specifically ayahuasca, in patients with depression. She has extensive experience in Immunology, particularly in the measurement of steroid hormones, cytokines, and neurotrophins using the Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. Since 2015, she has been actively involved in clinical studies investigating the potential therapeutic effects of ayahuasca, DMT, and ketamine in treating depression. Currently, she works as a technician at the Hormonal Measurements Laboratory in the Department of Physiology at the UFRN.

ERICA PANTRIGO is an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Chemistry program at UFRN. For a brief period, she worked as a research assistant in the development of copper nitro complexes for potential use as metallodrugs. In recent years, she has been working as a research assistant in the extraction, purification, and characterization process of N,N-DMT from Jurema-preta. During her leisure time, she loves to travel, hike, and watch series.

ROSANA AIRES graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal Rural University of the Semi-arid (UFERSA) (2013). Residency in Veterinary Clinical Pathology (2018), technical course in clinical analysis (2019), and postgraduate degree in Clinical Analysis (2022). In 2018, she joined as a laboratory technician at UFRN, where she worked in the vivarium area, and currently works at PESQCLIN (Clinical and Epidemiological Research Laboratory) at the Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes (HUOL). She is currently a Master's student in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PPGCF) at UFRN.

Currently pursuing a master's degree at the UFRN Brain Institute, he is engaged in studying the intersection of data science and mental health research. Isaac's research focuses on exploring the effects of psychedelics on biomarkers associated with mental illness, with a particular emphasis on depression.
In his free time, Isaac finds solace in the great outdoors, enjoying activities such as running and hiking. He also nurtures his passion for e-sports, with a special affinity for the game Valorant.

BRUNO PEREIRA is a psychologist, harm reduction specialist, and therapeutic companion, with a background in clinical practice and mental health since 2007. Currently working as a clinical psychologist and pursuing a Ph.D. in Psychobiology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), conducting research on novel treatments for depression using psychedelic substances such as ketamine. Completed a Master's degree in Psychology from UFRN in 2014, focusing on Society and Quality of Life. Graduated in Psychology from the University of Passo Fundo in 2009.

FLAVIA ARICHELLE is a nurse who graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health at UFRN, and specialized in Clinical Nursing. Experienced in clinical research in Psychedelic Medicine, working with the Onofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL) and the Brain Institute. Hospital experience includes pediatric emergency care and pediatric ICU. Also works as a Nursing Instructor at SENAC/RN.
FLAVIA ARICHELLE is a nurse who graduated from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), currently pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health at UFRN, and specialized in Clinical Nursing. Experienced in clinical research in Psychedelic Medicine, working with the Onofre Lopes University Hospital (HUOL) and the Brain Institute. Hospital experience includes pediatric emergency care and pediatric ICU. Also works as a Nursing Instructor at SENAC/RN.

RAFAEL LIMA holds a degree in Biological Sciences (2011-2015), MSc (2016-2018), and Ph.D. (2019-2023) in Psychobiology with an emphasis in neurophysiology all given by the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). VANESSA SOARES is biologist (2001), master’s in pharmacology (2003), Ph.D. in pharmacology (2008), and pos-doctorate in psychopharmacology (2008-2009) at University of São Paulo. Since 2009 she joined the Department of Biophysics and Pharmacology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), where she develops basic research using animal models of anxiety and depression. She collaborates with the investigation of the pharmacological profile of isolated DMT in rodents.
TIAGO SANCHEZ
PHYSICIST Ph.D IN FUNCTIONAL NEUROIMAGING
TIAGO SANCHEZ is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Psychiatry of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He is head of the 'Laboratory of Neuroimaging and Psychophysiology'. Physicist with a doctorate in the area of functional neuroimaging and mental health, by the University of São Paulo (2009) in the Program of Physics Applied to Medicine and Biology. He did a post-doctorate in physiology (2010) at the Institute of Biophysics (Carlos Chagas Filho) at UFRJ. He has experience in the human cognitive neuroscience using neuroimaging (functional magnetic resonance imaging, fMRI), heart rate variability (HRV), cognitive tasks, biofeedback and psychometric scales. He works with a special interest in: cognitive resources, social cognition, emotion regulation*, attention, mental imagery and sensory-motor integration. His research studies address the nervous and cardiorespiratory systems with application in mental health including chronic pain, depression and anxiety disorders, psychopharmacology studies and the brain effects of psychedelics.

EDILSOM FERNANDES is an IT Technician and Ethno-environmental Agent, who operates in 4 indigenous territories in Rondônia, with 4 distinct ethnicities. Since 1985, he has been working with Ayahuasca, having been part of two of the main Ayahuasca lineages in Brazil, UDV until 08/1989, and Barquinha of Manuel Araújo until 08/2000. In the same year, he established an independent religious center, while still maintaining within the Barquinha lineage, "Centro de Regeneração Casa de Jesus e Lar de Frei Manuel" (CRE), located in Ji-Paraná-RO, of which he has been the president. He worked on a project for the reintegration of inmates using Ayahuasca after various therapies in conjunction with the Cultural and Development Association of Inmates and Parolees (ACUDA). Today, he also serves at APAC in Ji-Paraná as a volunteer collaborator. Since 2013, the CRE has been receiving inmates in their spiritual works with Daime.

He is an affiliated member of the Latin American Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World. Rehen has been studying the effects of psychedelic substances on cerebral organoids to understand their impact on neural mechanisms and their potential therapeutic applications.

He is an Associate Professor at UFRN (PPG in Psychobiology). His current studies explore topics such as memory regulation, mechanisms of action of ayahuasca in animal and human models, the electrophysiology of animals during exercise, and neuroplasticity in meditative states.

NYKOLE PASSOS is a naturotherapist graduated from the Faculdades Integradas Espírita (2008) and a nurse (2021) with a specialization in Neonatal and Pediatric Nursing from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN (2024). Since 2008, she has been involved in teaching and practicing Integrative and Complementary Practices, facilitating therapeutic groups, and teaching free courses. Since 2020, she has been a guest lecturer in Women's Health postgraduate programs. Over the last 20 years, she has dedicated herself to expanding traditional indigenous cultures and ancestral medicines through Casa Aho (2012-2019) and Aldeia Yawaho (2019-present). Alongside her husband Costa, she conducts medicine ceremonies and facilitates immersion groups in the Amazon rainforest.

He has published over scientific papers, 3 book chapters, has a charter and filed 6 patent applications. He works as a researcher in Pharmaceutical Technology and Nanotechnology applied to molecules of pharmaceutical and biotechnological interest for human and animal health.
